Mary of Magdala Inclusive Catholic Community
Synod Documents Click here for Synod Documents The process for submissions for the October 2024 session of the Synod of Bishops continues.
In the Regina Archdiocese, communities are invited to hold listening sessions on what members understand and take away from the Syntheses Report from the first session. Our Synod Team is soliciting your input in the days ahead. A number of you were present to hear Sr. Elizabeth Davis, one of the Canadian delegates, share her experience and reflections. Also, Bridget Mary Meehan of ARCWP has assembled highlights from the Vatican Synthesis Report. Access to a Sr. Elizabeth's recording and the slides she used, as well as Bridget Mary's highlights can be found here:
Our
community Synod Team suggests that we refine our focus to the issue of
“Women in the Life and Mission of the Church,” particularly the
inclusion of the ordination of women to the priesthood, which has
been avoided in the Synopsis Report.
We welcome you to send the team and reflections you have on this, or any other synod topic.

V8: For Mother Earth and all of creation made in the Divine Image: may we realize our responsibility to be loving caretakers of land, sea and sky living in harmony with all that is. We pray… R./
For women throughout the world as we observe International Women’s Day and Month: may they be affirmed for their goodness and be given strength and courage to face the discrimination of sexism and misogyny which they continue to suffer in our patriarchal church and societies. We pray… R./
For a deeper awareness to the needs of the Indigenous peoples, the poor and those without homes, and those marginalized in any way: Inspire our service to be of lavish compassion and provide a soothing ointment to their aching bodies and spirits. We pray… R./
For all those who have died and those who mourn for them: especially Bob Courchene who died one year, and Fred Nourse, husband of Terry Schultz, who died four years ago; for Elizabeth, Terry, and their families as the journey through grief continues for them. We pray… R./
For those suffering from wars and civil unrest in Gaza, Israel, Russia, Ukraine, Haiti, Africa, and elsewhere around the world: that leaders of countries engaged in conflicts realize that war does not bring peace, only mutual respect and just and equitable resolution of conflict carries the hope of peace. We pray… R./
For those preparing to receive the Sacraments of Initiation this Easter season, for Pope Francis in his ongoing health struggles and all those who are ill, and for fruitful conversations among the people of God in preparation for the coming Synod session in October. We pray… R./

(Pause) We pray… R./ P: Blessed One of gentleness and care, thank you for hearing our prayers, those we have spoken and those we carry in our hearts. Keep us open and attentive to the needs of others, that we may join with our unnamed sister in the Gospel and be an anointing presence in our world. Amen Prayer requests at the March 10th Eucharist
Please pray for Bob Couchene, his wife Elizabeth and his extended family. Bob died on March 9th last year. Prayers of the People during 2nd Sunday of Lent Eucharist in-person: P: Wisdomkeeper, this is a good place to be! As your divinity was revealed to the ancestors and to your followers, it is revealed again to us today. Help us to bring your light to all who we encounter as we pray: “Make us message bearers of your love.” V: We pray for an all-inclusive church which will radiate the beauty of the transfigured Jesus through the modelling of our call to preach, teach, and work for justice. R. Make us message bearers of your love. We pray for the needs of our community and that we can help to transfigure the lives of the poor, the marginalized, and those who are ill in body, mind, or spirit. R. Make us message bearers of your love. We pray for an end to the unjust treatment of innocent people affected by war – those who have died, those who have lost loved ones, those who are displaced, those who live in fear -- for their safety and for a life of peace. R. Make us message bearers of your love. We pray for a new awareness of the earth and its many needs, for the will of decision-makers to make conscientious choices, and for a new understanding of our role to care for every earthly gift. R. Make us message bearers of your love. For all who journey in faith this Lent, for an openness to where Holy Wisdom is leading us, and for the companionship to help us be aware that we are not alone on this pilgrimage. R. Make us message bearers of your love. P: God/de of glory and wonder, bless us as we work to transfigure the world around us. Open us to your love and compassion as we live and follow the path of Jesus. R. Amen.

Reflections by MMICC member Dr.Terry Schultz Click here Break open my heart to receive your blessing Blessed are they who see beautiful things in humble places, where others see nothing. R. Break open my heart to receive your blessing. Blessed are they who are content with scarcity, confident that with God there is always more than enough R. Blessed are they who dare to be vulnerable, able to listen, and not need to fix things. R Blessed are they who reserve a space for mystery and wait for the unexpected response. R Blessed are they who can shift gears and trust the slow work of God. R Blessed are they who desire what God desires for them. R Open wide your arms, open wide your heart, and like Christ, Welcome the wave-flow, the flood, the sap of humanity. (T. De Chardin, Hymn of the Universe) A MEDITATIVE VERSE Create in me a clean heart, O God, and put a new and right spirit within me. (Psalm 51:10) A POEM This is the moment we ask for the blessing that lives within the ancient ashes, that makes its home inside the soil of this sacred earth. So let us be marked not for sorrow. And let us be marked not for shame. Let us be marked not for false humility or for thinking we are less than we are but for claiming what God can do within the dust, within the dirt, within the stuff of which the world is made and the stars that blaze in our bones and the galaxies that spiral inside the smudge we bear. - from "Blessing the Dust," by Jan Richardson, found in Circle of Grace A MEDITATIVE VERSE Restore to us the joy of your salvation, and sustain in us a willing spirit. (Psalm 51:12 var.)
It has been suggested that we honour our beloved Sr. Patricia with a memorial fund. Donations will go to local Truth and Reconciliation projects with which she was involved. Since she considered us her parish, the though is that ministry to the Indigenous people of Regina was truly her mission among us and that it would be a special way we could honour her and her memory. If you would like to contribute to this memorial fund, donations may be made by e-transfer to mmiccRegina@gmail.com by cheque upon request for the street address by writing to mmiccRegina@gmail.com via PayPal by clicking on this link: paypal.com/paypalme/MaryOfMagdala Eulogy for Patricia Orban -- November 23, 2023 -- Video of Mass of Christian Burial (preceeded by 11 minutes of photos of Sr. Patricia's life) New on the Bulletin Board and upcoming events Notice the new feature, "New on the Bulletin Board and upcoming events," at the top of the MMICC Bulletin Board. This will help you save time after you have looked over the whole Bulletin Board at the beginning of the month; then each day that you come back to the Bulletin Board, you only have to check to see if there is something new, and not have to go searching the whole Bulletin Board again.
