“I’m
absolutely convinced that nothing can separate
us from Creator’s eternal love – nothing
living or dead, nothing
angelic or demonic, nothing
present or to come, nothing high
or low, nothing
thinkable or unthinkable – absolutely
nothing in all creation can get
between us and God’s great love because of
the way that Jesus, the Christ, has embraced us.”
(Romans
8:38-39)
With sure and certain hope in Christ
Jesus who died on the cross and was raise from death, the first fruits
of all who have fallen asleep, we hold in sacred memory our loved ones
who have gone before us to your Eternal Embrace. May their memory
be a blessing.

CANADIANS FOR A SYNODAL CHURCH
Save the Date: Wednesday, November 22, 2023, 6:30 pm (Eastern Time)

·
Most Reverend Michael Miller, csb, Archbishop of Vancouver
·
Sr. Elizabeth Davis, rsm, Sisters of Mercy, Newfoundland
·
Ms. Catherine Clifford, Theologian, St. Paul University, Ottawa
The Catholic Church’s synodal
process has already undergone diocesan, national, and continental
stages as well as the first global Assembly at the Vatican which has
just concluded. The second Assembly in October 2024 is to advise
the pope on the topic “For a Synodal Church: Communion, Participation,
and Mission.” The October 2023 session was carried out in a synodal
style ensuring a continuing fruitful process of discernment to be
completed in the second session in October 2024. Proposals on how we
can grow as a synodal Church will then be presented to the Holy Father.
This on-line conversation will
provide an opportunity to learn from Canadian participants: an
archbishop, a religious sister, and a lay woman. They will describe
their experiences as voting delegates in the synodal process at the
Vatican and offer ways for us all to stay informed and engaged.

Prayer for a Sick Friend
~ M. Bouclin
"Jesus, the one you love
is ill." (John 11:3)
Gracious and loving God
whose care extends to all Creation, we praise you Holy Names. We entrust to your
divine care our friend who is sick. Be with her in her pain
and moral suffering. Give her courage and
hope.
Guide those who care for
her, keep them healthy and
whole, kind and generous, intent on spreading your
peace and joy.
Teach us how to be your
presence in her life, that she might find in
us your comforting hands, your words, and your
compassionate care.
And if this illness is
the passage to eternal life for her, grant her serennity and
total confidence in your unfailing love. Amen.
With gratitude and
blessings, Jane
It

Some
of her Sisters of Our Lady of
the Missions and her brothers were with her as she surrendered her last
breath into the Eternal Breath and was welcomed into the fullness of
the Divine Eternal Embrace.
May
her presence with us from the cosmic wholeness be a blessing.
We
continue to hold all those who mourn for her in our prayers. I
will
let you know of the funeral arrangements when I learn about them.
The
details of day and time for Patricia’s funeral are now finalized.
The funeral will be held Thursday, November 23rd at 1:00 pm (CST) at
St. Cecilia’s Church - 5020 7th Ave, Regina. Patricia’s brother
John will preside. The service will be live streamed at www.stcecregina.com The
obituary should be available soon at Speers website.
We will now offer our prayers
to our loving Godde in concert with Creator Sets Free, who wept over
his losses, who suffered his own brutal death, and who is our hope for
a new creation and that our loved ones are at peace, resting in the new
creation.
We
begin by remembering the Saints of the ages, friends of God and
prophets, and ask that they pray with us for the needs of the world.
All: We remember them.
We remember all the victims of
war throughout the ages, those who were persecuted, those who died from
battle wounds, and those who bore the trauma of war for all their
years. We are especially mindful of those who have died this year in
conflicts throughout the world, and in particular, the Israel vs.
Hamas War and the Ukrainian War for Independence, We remember all who died from
Covid-19 and other diseases that have devastated humanity, and those
who died because they could not access needed care due to inadequate
medical resources, We remember those who had died
due to genocidal policies of governments in the present as well as the
past: children who died at the Indian Residential Schools and those who
later died as a result of the trauma they experienced.
All: We remember them
We remember those who died
because they did not feel accepted in society because of their gender
identity whether transgender, gay, lesbian, two-spirit or other
non-binary identity. We remember those who have
died from drug overdoses or because of alcohol or other drug
dependencies and those who died by suicide. We remember those who died
from gun violence in our streets, mass murders in places of worship,
schools, and other public venues, and most recently the spree killing
in Maine. May our swords be turned into plowshares.
All: We remember them.
We remember all those who have
died as refugees and asylum seekers fleeing political or religious
persecution or social unrest in their homelands. We remember the victims of
fires, floods, hurricanes, and other disasters. We remember all creatures of
God: creatures of sea, land and air that died because of human
ignorance, neglect or greed.
All: We remember them.
We remember our beloved ones
who have died this year.
All: We remember them.

Mary of Magdala Inclusive
Catholic Community Icon
Symbols and their significance
(a statement of faith):
Budded Cross:
Budded cross has 3 circles for each bud at the
end of each arm.
Early Christian tradition know this cross as the
Apostles/Disciples cross.
The buds represent an unfolding rose, the symbol
of
love. Mary of Magdala shared a special relationship with
Jesus. Through their mutual and generous sharing she came to
understand the alchemy of self-emptying love which transforms eros into
agape.
From her place as the Beloved, Mary of Magdala
was the
first to see the risen Christ and was sent as Apostle to the Apostles
to proclaim the Easter message that love is stronger than death.
The three circles on the buds represent the Holy
Trinity within a Christian context but was likely copied from early
Celtic spirituality with the three circles representing earth, sky and
sea, therefore it can be seen as Christianity within creation as a
whole, a cosmic oneness.
The Budded Cross honours our call to
discipleship, to follow the path of conscious love to fullness of life
in the Risen Christ.
Outer Circle:
Representing God and infinity
The community lives within the mystery of God
and is called by name to go forth
Mary recognized Jesus at the tomb when he called
her by name and sent her forth to proclaim
Inner Circle:
The work of the community in following Christ as
disciples
Eucharistic symbols of bread, wine and a towel
represent self-giving love, sharing with and service to others
Helping and healing hands supporting the
Eucharistic
symbols represent the community being the body of Christ for others and
ourselves
Hands of different color represent the inclusive
mandate of the Mary of Magdala community
Triquetra Symbol –
on the bottom leg of the cross:
Has its origin in Celtic spirituality and was
taken into early Christian spirituality
Is a stylized wild goose, Celtic symbol of the
Holy Spirit
Symbolizes unity and equality
We believe in the equality of the three in One;
Creator, Redeemer, Sanctifier.
We believe in the equality of all persons and,
with
all our brothers and sisters, experience the injustice of inequality
just as Mary of Magdala did in her life time and continues to do so.
The icon is made of white birch from northern Saskatchewan.
It is a gift to Mary of Magdala Inclusive Catholic Community from wood
carving artist, Doris Sheldon.
