    Faith Enrichment Session

Be Still Before the Lord (Ps 37,7)

    MARCH 18TH

    Faith Enrichment Session

Be still before the Lord and wait patiently”, is the recommendation of the psalmist.

Stillness and waiting”? we might ask. “Are you sure about that?”

And yet, these are the two virtues we are proposing to our MMICC members during this Faith Enrichment Session, because we know these two principles are essential for quieting our minds and pace if we wish to meet and hear what the Spirit is saying to us today.

Our Lenten season is the appropriate time to practice stillness and waiting in order to create the space for this encounter.

On Saturday we will invite you to set aside an hour of your time for a period of song, prayer, reflection and contemplation. We will be offering a guided visualization and invite everyone to bring their journal, or sheet of paper and writing instrument to help with the process.

We hope you will enjoy this time of coming together as a community of faith to connect with each other and with our God-de.

The program will be available on the Bulletin Board a day or so before the session.

    Hope to see you there!

    Your Faith Enrichment team

PS: of course there will also be Break-Out Rooms!!

Learning How to See Podcast with Brian McLaren - Season 4

Whether you stay Christian or not, you have to wake up the next morning and decide what kind of human to be. —Brian McLaren

In the new season of Learning How to See, host Brian McLaren invites listeners to dive deep into “how” we stay Christian after going through a period of introspection and doubt. Joined this season by CAC friends Barbara Brown Taylor and Rev. Jacqui Lewis, Brian invites listeners to explore the guideposts on our faith journey that keep us honest, open, and more fully human during troubled times.

How do we transform and transcend our biases? From unconscious judgments to complacency in systemic evil, we must learn how to see if we are to learn how to transform. In the podcast Learning How to See, author, public theologian, and former evangelical pastor Brian McLaren helps listeners discover how seeing is social, political, and contemplative.

    OBITUARY

    Robert Emile Courchene

    14 JANUARY, 1936  9 MARCH, 2023
    Obituary of Robert Emile Courchene

Robert Emile Courchene, age 87, of Regina, Saskatchewan passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2023. Robert was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

Robert Emile Courchene passed away in the early hours of March 9, 2023 at the age of 87 years old. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth of 62 years. Dad is also survived by his children: Shune (Tim), Simone, Mike (Elaine), Lisa and James (Rachel); his grandchildren: Sean, Danielle, Riley (Heather), Lietesha, Rachel (Mitch), Madison (Luc), Andrew, Jonathan, Preston and Zachary; his great-grandchildren: Finley, Lucy, Jack, Ari and Hannah, as well as his sister Denise and brother Ray. He is predeceased by his son-in-law Robert Martin; 3 brothers, 3 sisters and numerous in-laws.

Dad was born on January 14, 1936 at Saskatoon, SK. He spent his childhood in Duck Lake and St. James. He attended St. Peter’s College in Muenster, SK and graduated from Scott Collegiate in Regina, SK. After working with Scotiabank in various locations, throughout Alberta and Saskatchewan, he and mom settled in Regina.

Dad met the love of his life in Brooks, AB in early 1959 and were engaged in late March of that year. They were married in Regina on June 18, 1960. They resided in Regina until December of 1982 when Farm Credit Corporation transferred Dad to Assiniboia, SK. In February 1986 he was transferred back to Regina and in June 1991, Dad retired from FCC, after 31 years of service.

After taking early retirement, Dad enjoyed cooking, wine making and serving on their condo board. His faith and community service were always a large part of Dad’s life. Throughout their married life Mom and Dad were involved in their Roman Catholic church community, Worldwide Marriage Encounter and in later years the Mary Magdalene Inclusive Catholic Church.

A memorial service, presided by Bishop Jane Kryzanowski, will be held on Thursday, March 16, 2023 at 1:00 pm at the Victoria Avenue Funeral Home, 2080 East Victoria Avenue, Regina, Saskatchewan S4N 7B9.

Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.victoriaavenuefuneral.com for the Courchene family.
