FAITH ENRICHMENT SESSION CHANGE
Our Saturday October 21st session, has been changed to Friday evening October 20th at 7:00 pm Saskatchewan Time (CST).
We are sorry if it causes inconvenience for some members due to an
unforeseen circumstance. We hope you will be happy to join the team at
this special time.
Our theme for the evening session, will still remain centred on the
Synodal Process as it has been experienced in our community and at
large. Our special guest speaker is June Krogan, who has been the
leader of the Synodal Process for us. She will be sharing her own
thoughts on what she has discovered and learned from the experience.
We will of course have song, prayer, reading, intercessions, and break-out room.
PLEASE BRING WITH YOU A CANDLE TO LIGHT, AND A SYMBOL OF THE SPIRIT THAT IS MEANINGFUL TO YOU.
Thanks for your understanding and support,
Your Faith Enrichment Team

Together – Gathering of the People of God
Sunday, October 1, 2023 3 pm at Blessed Sacrament Parish, 2049 Scarth Street, Regina
An ecumenical prayer service will be held in Regina in spiritual
communion with Christians around the world and with the Together 2023
ecumenical prayer vigil in Rome with the leaders of different Churches,
to unite us in praise and silence, in listening to the Word.
Singers and musicians are invited to join a special joint choir for this ecumenical service. There will be a rehearsal at 1:30pm on Sunday, Oct. 1 at Blessed Sacrament Parish, 2049 Scarth Street, Regina.
The Together 2023 gathering coincides with the opening of the Synod of
Bishops called by Pope Francis. The theme of this year's synod is
"synodality", part of a 3 year reflection on how we walk together with
the Holy Spirit in communal discernment. So, the Together 2023 theme
invites us to reflect on how we are the people of God, how we share
together in God's mission in the world, and how we listen to one
another and to the Holy Spirit.
Through baptism and the Scriptures, are we not sisters and brothers in
Christ, united in a communion that is still imperfect but nevertheless
real? Is it not Christ who calls us and opens a way for us to go
forward with him as fellow travellers, together with those who live on
the margins of our societies? On this journey, in a dialogue that
reconciles, we want to remember that we need each other, not so that we
might be stronger together but as a contribution to peace in the human
family.
In gratitude for this growing sense of communion, we can find the
momentum needed to meet today’s challenges faced with the polarisations
that fracture the human family and the cry of the earth. In encounter
and mutual listening, let us walk together as the people of God.

Peace, Faith, and Humanity in Times of Crisis Peace Studies Lecture with retired Lieutenant-General Roméo Dallaire
St. Thomas More College is pleased to announce that the Honourable
Roméo A. Dallaire will be presenting this year's Peace Studies lecture:
Peace, Faith, and Humanity in Times of Crisis. The lecture will take
place on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at 7pm. Please note that the lecture will now be held at St. Joseph High School’s Theatre (115 Nelson Road) and will be an in-person only event.
Roméo Dallaire is founder of the Dallaire Institute for Children,
Peace, and Security, the global partnership with the mission to end and
prevent the recruitment and use of children in violence. A
celebrated advocate for human rights, especially in regards to child
soldiers, veterans, and the prevention of mass atrocities, General
Dallaire is also a respected government and UN advisor and former
Canadian Senator.
General Dallaire was appointed Force Commander of the United Nations
Assistance Mission for Rwanda prior to and during the 1994
genocide. General Dallaire provided the United Nations with
information about the planned massacre, which ultimately took more than
800,000 lives in less than 100 days; yet, permission to intervene was
denied and the UN withdrew its peacekeeping forces. General
Dallaire, along with a small contingent of Ghanaian and Tunisian
soldiers and military observers, disobeyed the command to withdraw and
remained in Rwanda to fulfill their ethical obligation to protect those
who sought refuge with the UN forces. His courage and leadership during
this mission earned him the Meritorious Service Cross, the United
States Legion of Merit, the Aegis Award on Genocide Prevention, and the
affection and admiration of people around the globe. His defiant
dedication to humanity during that mission has been well-documented in
films and books, including his own award-winning account: Shake Hands
with the Devil: the Failure of Humanity in Rwanda.

All: Source of Life and Love, you hear our prayer.
For ever-deepening trust in the faithful

ever-greater attentiveness to the Wisdom from above us guiding us to
respond effectively to the Cry of the Earth and the Cry of the Poor, we
pray... R./
For hungry
people of the world, that the abundant harvest of the Canadian prairies
may reach those most in need, knowing that the usual rich harvest in
Ukraine will not be available again this year because of the war, we
pray... R./
For people
who experience the pain and suffering of addiction and mental illness,
that Christians act with compassion and understanding to lighten their
burden and at the same time work to create more compassionate
communities, we pray... R./
For
Indigenous people throughout our country at this time when we observe
the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and for us settlers that
we may find ways to be in solidarity with them in their struggle for
justice, we pray… R./
For
the work of the Synod and all those participating in formal and
informal ways, that all take their prophetic responsibilities to widen
the tent of the Church to be inclusive of all… R./
For us gathered here in these
challenging times of environmental crisis, that we may speak God’s
Truth with courage, calling each other into ways of living on Earth
wisely, sustainably, justly, and reverently, we pray… R./
For those celebrating life events this month: birthdays, anniversaries, memorials.
For the
requests entered in Chat this morning, for those posted on the Bulletin
Board, and for those we hold deep in our hearts... (pause), we
pray… R./
P: Source
of Life and love, justice and reconciliation, we bring these prayers to
you. We give thanks that you always hear the prayers of your people and

where all have a place at your table. All: Amen.
Prayers of the People during the Eucharist of October 22nd

lives, will not only speak about, but act with compassion, love, and
healing.
R: God/de of love and hope, we place our trust in you.
V: We pray for migrants,
refugees, and asylum seekers crossing borders to find safety and
opportunity; for those in refugee camps who endure hardships of lack of
supplies and extreme weather; for decision-makers to seek peaceful
solutions and to draft compassionate policies on their behalf.
R: God/de of love and hope, we place our trust in you.
V: We pray for peace and
justice in the many parts of the world, especially today for the
innocent ones who suffer from the war in Israel and Palestine, and
Ukraine.
R: God/de of love and hope, we place our trust in you.
V: We pray for the many
people who carry out humanitarian work, who are dedicated to the safety
of people in poverty, distress, displacement, and who work for the good
of all creation.
R: God/de of love and hope, we place our trust in you.
V: We pray for truth, reconciliation, and healing for all who have been harmed in the name of Christ and the Church.
R: God/de of love and hope, we place our trust in you.

R: God/de of love and hope, we place our trust in you.
V: We pray for those who have asked us to pray for them and those individual prayers held in our own hearts.
R: God/de of love and hope, we place our trust in you.
P: God of all, we turn
to you who are loving and who always hears us. Help us to hear you and
